Brenda Barthell

​Brenda Barthell earned a fine arts degree at Northwestern University and a master's degree in art therapy at The George Washington University where she served on the faculty for 15 years. She has also studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and at the Art League of Alexandria. As a member of the Art League, the Potomac Valley Watercolorists, and the Virginia Watercolor Society (signature member), her work has received numerous awards, the most recent being Awards of Distinction at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley and the Virginia Museum of History and Culture. She has exhibited in juried solo and group shows since 1985, as well as in corporate venues. She has also served as a judge for all-media exhibits.

Brenda Barthell was a finalist in the 2014 abstract/experimental art challenge sponsored by the International Artist Magazine, published worldwide. Her work was also featured in the January 2016 issue of Elan magazine.
